Yesterday in chapel, we had a missionary to Iran that spoke. Instead of the usual: my life story, my calling, God has called you speech, he came in with something different. Something that would strike our attention. He had the salvation stories of 4 people or families in Iran. As he told each of their stories, a picture was shown on screen. Now a little background info, the screen has had a counter of all the lives that are dying around the world. But not only are they counting the people dying, it's the people dying and going to hell...this rocked my world! So back to the stories of these Iranians, he began to share what they went through all the way through salvation till now and these stories are remarkable!
He also told of a preacher who stood up for their faith with courage beyond belief. This preacher was approached by some sort of police and was trying to keep him from spreading the gospel. The police told this man, "If y'all don't quit, we will beat you." The preacher replied, "beat us, our Lord was beaten for us." Then the police said, "Well if y'all don't stop, we'll lock you up in prison." The preacher replied, "Lock us up in prison, we'll spread the gospel there. They like us more than they like you anyways." The police finally said, "If you don't quit, we will kill all of you." Not afraid, the preacher replied, "Kill us, because then our word will spread even faster." After this, the police man walked away and never came back.
What if each Christian in the world had this kind of attitude. We walk around everyday and we don't share God's love and his word because we're too afraid of what people might think of us or not knowing what to say. Why can't we learn this kind of confidence these preachers in Iran have? When will our desire to save the loss become so great that we will actually do something about it? When watching the clock of deaths going to hell, how many do we have to see till we realize there is a problem in our world and stand up for what we believe in, what we know is true?
This chapel rocked my world. I wish I was surrounded by people with a faith like that.
