You Hold Me Now

So today I had to write an analysis on a hymn or chorus for my theology class. I ended up writing about the song You Hold Me Now by Hillsong United.

I first heard this song at camp this past summer and it has definitely become one of my favorite worship songs. I've never really taken the time to look at the lyrics and see just what is being said and what it means or try to interpret what the author was trying to say through it but for this analysis, i was forced to. What I found made me fall even more in love with the song.

This song is basically a song of praise to the Lord and how the author is waiting for the day when he sees God face to face and gets to spend eternity in his presence. He talks about how he can't wait to see all that God has for him. In life, we live day to day living in God's will because we know if we follow him during this life we will be able to spend life with God forever and that's our main desire.

The author also goes into describing heaven in this song. "Where the streets are made of gold In your presence healed and whole Let the songs of heaven rise to you alone." I can't wait to walk on those amazing streets of gold!!!

"In this life I will stand through my joy and my pain knowing there's a greater day there's a hope that never fails." I want to be the kind of person who is content in every situation I face. I want to stand firm in my joyous times and my times of mourning and pain. I know the day is coming when my Lord will return and all my pain and fears will be taken away and I'm ready for it! I'm ready to see my Savior riding on a white horse!

The last part of it says, "For eternity, all my heart will give, all the glory to your name." I will praise him for eternity. I will give all of my hear to him and him alone!

This song was so good before I actually thought about the lyrics and much greater now that I have!

I just might start doing this with all songs I listen to. =)
