This is from about a year ago...but what a great reminder!
Sitting in Service today at Trinity Church we were talking about Rescuing the Perishing. I began thinking of all those who save lives everyday: firefighters, doctors, surgeons, and rescue teams. Each of these groups set their mind to one goal: SAVE PEOPLE. Simple as that. How come these people are more dedicated to saving physical lives than we as Christians are to saving Spiritual lives? As I said, saving lives is their one and only goal. They do everything they can to save a life whether it be young or old, healthy or dying. They will not give up until their mission is complete. Why don't we do the same thing with more intensity? We are called to reach a dying world. They may not be dying physical but spiritually, they are dying more and more every day. When a firefighter sees someone in need they don't sit back and wait for someone else to pick up their slack and go help them. They GO themselves! They think more about the person in trouble than they do themselves. They have got to be the most selfless people on this earth. Aren't we called to be selfless? Instead we are very selfish when we come to think about it. We need to get into the mind set that saving spiritual lives is our MISSION and take every opportunity because it is that person's only means of survival. We must do everything possible to save that person. Follow the example of these firefighters, doctors, etc. What if we all faced daily situations with the outlook they have? Our world would change back to what God intended it to be. We, like firefighters, have all the tools, training, and knowledge (and the power of God) to save lives. So why don't we use it?
"Go into all the world and preach the good news to all creation." Mark 16:15
Great words Kayla!
