Two Thousand Eleven

As we enter the new year, everyone is setting that goal, the one that they will try to fulfill and will inevitably fail at.
The Top Ten New Year's Resolutions are:
1. Spend more time with family and friends.
2. Fit in Fitness.
3. Tame the bulge.
4. Quit smoking.
5. Enjoy life more.
6. Quit drinking.
7. Get out of debt.
8. Learn something new.
9. Help others.
10. Get organized.
All these are great goals but what is the likelihood of accomplishing them for even a few months not to mention an entire year!
Our eyes are so set on things that we think will make us happy, things we think will make our life better so we tend to concentrate on those things and try to accomplish them on our on.
But what if our goal had a higher purpose?
What if we set the goal to focus on God and to fulfill his will rather than our goals that please us and let Him do the rest?
God understands our human needs and he knows how to take care of them best. He can give us wisdom with our finance, He can give us strength to break free of any and all addictions, we will always learn something new from Him, and He will give us opportunities to help others.

So this year instead of setting an unreasonably selfish goal, I will instead set my goal to grow in my relationship with Christ and learn to trust in Him much more than ever before and as I do, I KNOW all other things will fall into place.

"Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you. For everyone who asks receives; he who seeks finds; and to him who knocks, the door will be opened." Matthew 7:7-8
